Meribel Ski Schools
Learning to ski in Meribel

Meribel & La Tania, both  offer a choice of ski schools. Generally, the smaller independent schools have smaller classes than the ESF (École de Ski Français). All schools offer a range of lessons for all standards of skiers and snowboarders. Lessons can be for half days or full days with private lessons available for anyone with specific needs.  Below you will find details, price and timetables for the Ski Schools available, please ensure that you are looking at the correct resort.

You can do a basic snowplough

You have a strong snowplough and starting to parallel turn

You can parallel turn confidently on blues

You can parallel turn confidently blues and red, but lack confidence to tackle blacks

 

Level 5

You can parallel everywhere

Level 1

This is my first time 

 

Level 2

I have tried skiing on snow or on a dry slope and find green runs a challenge

 

Level 3

I can control my speed and turn on green slopes using a snowplough

 

Level 4

I ski confidently parallel on blue runs.  The plough comes back when it gets steep, narrow or icy

 

Level 5

I ski red runs in good conditions.  I enjoy speed, but struggle on bumps, steeps and ice

 

Level 6

I can get down most blacks, and want to improve my off-piste skills

 

Level 7

I can ski 'everywhere'.  Blacks are no problem and I enjoy off-piste.

Guidance on CHILDREN'S SKIER levels for New Generation is as follows:

 

Whippersnappers

Wallabies

4-5 year olds ONLY. 

This is my first time skiing ever!

 

Arrows

I can ski a green run, controlling my speed, use a drag lift and might have tried a blue run

 

Bombers

I can 'bomb' down blue runs and sometimes get down a red run as well

 

Rockets

I can ski 'everywhere' - reds and beyond

Guidance on SNOWBOARDING levels for New Generation is as follows:

  Level 1

Learn the basic movements of snowboarding

If you can already turn both ways on greens and easy blues, this course will help you progress with confidence to more challenging terrain

I can ride and turn on blue runs

I can ride most of the mountain

New Generation Ski offers a Monday start, however for those wanting to start on Sunday beginners only, for 3 or more people they can offer a 6-day course starting on Sunday. Please discuss all your requirements direct.

This British run ski school already has a great reputation. They focus on customer satisfaction and fun learning.  Offering adult and children's lessons, both private and groups.  A maximum of 6 people per group lesson.  Catering for all levels of juniors and adults with a range of course options from beginners to very advanced. Private family courses and private groups are a popular option.

You have had some lessons before, you are on green runs turning both ways but a bit shaky or nervous

You are turning both ways on greens and easy blues

Very comfortable on blues and linking turns on reds

Reds, blacks, off-piste and freestyle – riding the whole mountain

ESF, Ecole du ski Francais.. Their classes can often be crowded at the peak date, we would recommend using one of the smaller ski schools listed above, however many clients do like and have great lesson with ESF.
